Seven people were killed and 15 others hurt in a head-on collision between a passenger mini-bus and a bus in the northern Philippines, police said Sunday. The mini-bus crashed into the bus on the opposite lane after overtaking another vehicle along a highway in Villasis town in the northern province of Pangasinan on Saturday. Police officer Diosdado Macaraeg said the roof of the mini-bus, locally called a jeepney, was torn off in the collision. Most of the victims were aboard the mini-bus. Five of the fatalities died on the spot, while the other two expired while being taken to a nearby hospital, Macaraeg was quoted as saying by DPA.
