Minister of transport Dr Jubarah al-Sireisiri signed here today with Huta Heger Field Company a SR 89.9 million worth contract. Under the contract, Huta company will undertake the implementation of the second phase of the project of deepening the entrances and wharves of King Fahd Industrial Port. The period of the contract is two years. In a statement following the signing of the contract, Al-Sireisiri said after the implementation of the second phase of the project, the stations of petroleum derivatives, petrochemicals, containers and general goods will be capable of receiving ships with the capacity of 150,000 ton. This development will make the port receive gigantic ships', he said noting that the contract comes as a complementary to the contracts earlier signed by other companies and establishments for the development and improvement of the King Fahd Industrial Port. Dr Al-Sireisiri pointed out that the Saudi Ports Authority has set ambitious plans for the development of the ports in line with the directives of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz.
