Two trains derailed in separate place in Indonesia on Saturday, resulting in at least 50 persons injured, local media reports said. A report by the Jakarta Post online edition said the accidents occurred in the Purwakarta and Garut regions of West Java, with the paper citing MetroTV television as reporting that at the Garut site, some 50 passengers were injured, some of them seriously, when a number of cars derailed, according to DPA. That accident was followed some time later by a train derailment in the Purkawakarta region. There were no initial reports of injuries, but the accident disrupted operations of other trains. Jakarta Post noted that Indonesia had suffered a string of train accidents in recent months, mostly caused by the poor condition of tracks dating back to the colonial era. It said Transportation Minister Hatta Radjasa recently announced that more that 200 million rupiahs (22 million dollars) had been allocated to repair train tracks around the country.
