The Pak Oman Microfinance Bank has opened its twelfth branch in Karachi, facilitating over 19,000 people from low-income groups as its customers. It started operations about one year ago, according to a statement. Yahya Bin Said Bin Abdullah Al-Jabri, Chairman of the Bank, formally inaugurated the branch in the presence of Federal Minister of Housing and Works Syed Safwanullah. The statement said that as a market driven organisation with hands-on experience of working with the poor and rural population, the bank is focusing on achieving integrated empowerment to make Pakistan poverty free; and on its key objective of providing financial assistance to the poor and needy in the country. Ozair A. Hanafi, President and CEO of Pak Oman Microfinance Bank commented, said, we are determined to make a success of the purpose for which the Bank was established, to serve the poor and empower the underprivileged people of Pakistan to be self-sufficient. Our efforts in alleviating poverty in Pakistan is a continuous process by which we are attempting to reach people in all parts of the country in the fastest possible time; the opening of the new branch has also brought technology to the doorsteps of our customers through ATM facilities.
