About 100 Chinese officers, including six women, have joined the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Haiti, the UN announced Saturday. They joined a group of 30 Formed Police Unit personnel in the Caribbean country, it said, according to a report of the Press Trust of India. China has contributed more than 1000 officers in the Formed Units since the Mission for Stabilization of Haiti was established in October, 2004 after an insurgency forced the then President Jean-Bertrand Aristide to go in exile. As of March 31 last, China had 1809 personnel in various peacekeeping operations, including 1572 soldiers and 174 police personnel.
