Loud detonations rocked downtown Khartoum on Saturday as a military truck carrying ammunition exploded but caused no casualties, the army said. Sudanese army spokesman Osman Mohamed al-Aghbash said the blast, which occurred near the military headquarters in the capital, was the result of a fire on a truck carrying ammunition. No other details were immediately known. The blast could be heard miles away and a heavy plume of smoke rose into the air over Khartoum, according to AP. Al-Aghbas said there were casualties and that the area surrounding the army headquarters in the downtown was evacuated. All roads leading to the blast site were cordoned off by police. -- SPA
