Yemeni Minister of Oil and Minerals Khalid Bahah has highlighted efforts exerted by the National Seismological Observatory Center (NSOC), based in Dhamar to monitoring quakes and issuing studies which contribute to reducing risks of earthquakes. During the visit to the center along with Dhamar governor Mansor Abdul-Jalil here yesterday, Bahah asked to pace the process of constructing a building for the center. The building, 90% of it has been implemented, will cost a sum of YR 68 million funded by the government, according to a report of Yemen's news agency "SABA". The Center's officials offered detailed explanation on the activities of the center, especially the application of state-of-art system for monitoring and observing quakes across the country. According to officials in the center, the system contains 18 digital stations in addition to a network to recognize strong earthly movements.
