Japan's Crown Prince Naruhito has a benign growth in his small intestine and is expected to have it removed, palace officials said Friday. Palace doctors found the polyp in Naruhito's duodenum, the first section of the small intestine, when he had a regular health check a week ago, said Imperial Household Agency spokesman Yasuo Moriyama. The prince turned 47 last month. The polyp is «benign and not large,» and palace doctors plan to remove it in a noninvasive, endoscopic operation at a time depending Naruhito's schedule of official duties, Moriyama said.
