South African President Thabo Mvuyelwa Mbeki today asserted the importance of enhancing economic and trade relations between the Kingdom and South Africa. During a meeting with Saudi businessmen held at Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the President called for developing joint investments and trade relations among business sectors in the two countries. The president hinted that the business sector in South Africa is looking forward to participate in giant projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, pointing out that South Africa has many investment opportunities in the field of energy, mining and transport in which Saudi businessmen can invest. Chairman of the Board of Directors of Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abdulrahman Al-Jeraissi delivered a speech in which he welcomed the President and the accompanying delegation. Al-Jeraissi asserted that this visit came to enhance the economic relations between the two countries as well as bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade and investment. He reviewed the giant projects which will be adopted by the Saudi government during the next fifteen years amounting to one billion Saudi riyals in the fields of education, health, electricity, water desalination and training. --More
