Taiwan said on Saturday that it will further open travel and trade links with China to prepare for fully opening sea, air and trade links with the mainland, according to dpa. "There is still room for expanding the Mini Three Links which were introduced in 2001. These adjustments are being processed and will be announced soon," Joseph Wu, director of the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC), said in a radio interview. Wu said that under the Mini Three Links, Taiwan allowed travel and trade between Kinmen and Matsu islets and China's Fujian Province. Kinmen and Matsu are Taiwan-held islets on the far side of the Taiwan Strait, just off China's Fujian coast. In future, Taiwan plans to allow Taiwanese to go to China for business or academic seminars via Kinmen and Matsu, and let Fujian tourists visit Taiwan's Penghu islands, Wu told the Broadcasting Corporation of China (BCC). Currently Taiwanese must fly to China via a third country or Hong Kong. -- SPA
