AMAN 07, the grand naval exercise hosted by Pakistan Navy, has literally made it possible for maritime nations of the world to step under one banner and reaffirm the objective to fight terrorism, said Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Afzal Tahir. He told the reporters during a visit at sea to witness the ongoing multinational naval exercise AMAN 07, which is currently in its sea phase. The naval chief said that setting up of a stage for such grandeur exercise involved a year long planning and hectic efforts. Not being oblivious of our primary duty of safeguarding the maritime frontiers, this was a gigantic task, the undertaking of which is a testimony to our substantial contribution towards peace and harmony in the region," he said. Admiral Tahir said that the exercise AMAN 07 would not only consolidate achievements made so far towards peace and security but also project Pakistan as a vibrant and important country and enable it to play a more dynamic role in the security formulation of the region. He appreciated highly enthusiastic response from the regional and extra regional maritime forces and observers for participation in this mega exercise. "This indeed is a reflection of the confidence which these navies repose on us given our capability and professionalism," he added. The naval chief expressed his complete satisfaction over the conduct of the entire exercise. On board PNS NASR, the naval chief was briefed about the operational aspects of the exercise. He also boarded foreign ships and witnessed warships of Pakistan and other participating navies rehearsing various operational tactics, maneuvers and coordinated moves to thwart seaward terrorism. Besides, the exercise out at sea, special operations exercises are also being conducted by special forces elements.
