Iran's First Vice-President Parviz Davoudi and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad stressed in their meeting here today expansion of bilateral relations. According to Iranian news agency (IRNA), latest developments in the Middle East region, in particular the situation in Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon, were among major topics discussed by the two officials. Davoudi, who is currently visiting Syria, and Syrian President Assad this morning inaugurated the Iran-Syria Samand car manufacturing plant, the first ever established in the country. Davoudi was welcomed in the Syrian capital Damascus today on his arrival by Syrian Prime Minister Muhammad Naji al-Utri. The Iranian VP is also scheduled to hold talks with Syrian counterpart Farouq al-Shara and other senior officials of the country to review issues of mutual interest and latest regional developments. -- SPA
