On behalf of Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, President of Arab Gulf Programme for United Nations Development Organizations ( AGFUND), Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaizi opened here today a conference under the title "The Health Of The Arab Child, An investment Of A Nation" organized in collaboration with the minitry of health and the Arab League. On this occasion, in a speech at the three-day conference, Minister of Health Dr. Hamad bin Abdullah Al-Manei said education, health and teaching are the main principles of child upbringing all over the world, highlighting the great care given by Islam to the children and the right ways to treat them. "The ministry of health has exerted considerable efforts to protect children even before they were born by organizing proper programs for the mothers and families across the Kingdom in order to come up with healthy society, " he added. Then, the speech of the Secretary General of the Arab League was read by Assistant Secretary General Ambassador Nancy Bakeer. "Children are the real investment into the future and the target to any development process and from this prospective the Arab League has given great care for the health and upbringing of children in the Arab World ," she said. "The Arab League has carried out leading programs concerning the Arab child and his health on top of them the Arab Project of the Child Health and Family Health," she added. For his part, the Minsiter of Education Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Obaid delivered a speech on this occasion. In his speech he stressed that health is one of the main psychological and social security of the child and it is necessary for maintaining sound healthy life. "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabi has been keen on child heath care even since its foundation," he said, underscoring the importance of giving the child the proper education to complement with the health side. -- SPA
