An Indonesian ferry carrying at least 350 people caught on fire in rough seas off the north coast of Java Island this morning, leaving at least six people dead, dpa quoted navy officials as saying. "We have received reports that at least six people - four adults and two children - were killed in the accident, while 211 others survived," Lieutenant Colonel Hendra Pakan, spokesman for the Indonesian Navy's Western Fleet, told the Jakarta-based Elshinta radio station. Pakan said five navy ships were en route to the accident site, about 50 miles from Jakarta's Tanjung Priok harbour, to help evacuate survivors from the stranded ferry. The ship was en route from Tanjung Priok harbour to Sumatra Island when it caught fire at about 5:20 a.m. (2220 Wednesday GMT), the state-run Antara news agency reported.
