U. S. Vice President Dick Cheney arrived in Japan on Tuesday for a three-day visit to discuss North Korea, Iraq and Afghanistan with top Japanese officials, Kyodo News reported. Cheney is scheduled to hold separate meetings Wednesday evening with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Foreign Minister Taro Aso in Tokyo. He will also meet Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuhisa Shiozaki for a breakfast meeting and have an audience with Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko the same day. Aso told reporters Tuesday morning ahead of the vice president's arrival that Cheney's trip is aimed at building sound ties between Japan and the United States.
