A volunteer firefighter was jailed for five years for setting fire to a historic building, a court in the eastern German city of Stralsund said Thursday, according to Deutsche Presse Agentur dpa. The court heard that the blaze in the timber-framed storehouse in the town of Wolgast caused damage valued at 1 million euros (1.3 million dollars). The 26-year-old unnamed man was convicted on three counts of arson, including setting fire to a stairwell and a summer house. The court ordered that the man undergo treatment at a psychiatric clinic before beginning his prison term.
