SECRETARY GENERAL OF GULF COOPERATION COUNCIL ABDULRAHMAN ALA'ATEYAH STRONGLY CONDEMNED THE TWO EXPLOSIONS WHICH OCCURRED IN TWO BUSES IN THE LEBANESE TOWN OF BAKFIAH AND WHICH LED TO THE DEATH AND INJURY OF A NUMBER OF CIVILIAN LEBANESE. THE SECRETARY GENERAL CONSIDERED THESE EXPLOSIONS AS A CRIMINAL ACT AIMING AT DRAWING LEBANON INTO CHAOS, DESTRUCTION AND INCREASED POLITICAL TENSIONS. THE GCC SECRETARY GENERAL REITERATED THE GCC COUNTRIES' POSITION CALLING FOR THE UNITY OF THE LEBANESE, BOLSTERED SECURITY AND STABILITY, ADHERENCE TO LEGITIMATE CONSTITUTIONAL INSTITUTIONS AND SUPPORT FOR RECONCILIATION, WISDOM AND DIALOGUE TO OVERCOME THE CURRENT SITUATION IN LEBANON.
