A 14-member high level Kenyan delegation led by Minister for Agriculture Kipruto Arap Kirwa has discussed with Pakistan s Food, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Sikandar Bosan matters relating to promotion of agriculture and trade between the two countries, according to an official statement. Kirwa said that Kenya wants to import latest agriculture machinery, agriculture equipment so that it could make its barren land cultivatable. He informed his Pakistani counterpart that Kenya wants to utilize Pakistan s expertise in research of the agricultural sector to promote production of wheat, rice, cotton, sugarcane and high breed seed in Kenya. The Kenyan minister invited Pakistani businessmen for investment in the promotion of agriculture sector in Kenya. Bosan assured Kirwa that Pakistan would extend all possible help to promote agriculture sector of Kenya and said that Pakistan would also impart training to Kenyan farmers in Pakistan s agriculture institutions. He expressed the desire that Pakistan is keenly interested to adopt the Kenyan know-how for further improvement of tea production in Pakistan. Bosan said that Kenya should relax duty on the import of Pakistan s banaspati rice to Kenya for enhancement of trade between the two countries.
