Nepalese police Sunday shot dead at least three more protestors in southern Nepal as violence continued to spiral, officials in Kathmandu said, according to DPA. Government officials and police said two protestors were killed in Sarlahi district, about 100 kilometres south east of Kathmandu, and one more protestor died in the commercial city of Birgunj. Police said they fired on hundreds of demonstrators belonging to Madhesi People's Rights Forum (MPRF) in Sarlahi district headquarters Malangwa who had defied a curfew in the town. At least 10 people, including police were injured in scuffles. In neighbouring Birgunj, one protestor was shot dead after hundreds of MPRF activists tried to storm district administration office in the city. Chief District Officer of Parsa, Shambhu Koirala at least 20 others were injured in the incident. The death toll in more than two weeks of violence has now climbed to at least 20. Elsewhere in the Himalayan nation, MPRF activists assaulted several journalists accusing them of bias and unfair reporting.
