The Dutch Agriculture Ministry Saturday ordered all poultry to be brought in and placed under cover with immediate effect, following the detection of the potentially deadly H5N1 variant bird flu on a farm in south-eastern England, according to Deutsche Presse Agentur dpa. The order went into effect at 6.00 pm. It affected all poultry, whether commercially or privately owned. British agriculture authorities announced earlier Saturday that the bird flu virus had been found in some 2,600 turkeys which died on a farm in the English county of Suffolk this week.
