Police shot dead a protestor in southern Nepal Saturday during violent anti-government protests, reports said, according to DPA. The protestor was shot after a large group of Madhesi People's Rights Forum activists clashed with police in Birjung, about 90 kilometres south of the Nepalese capital, independent Kantipur FM radio said. At least nine others were wounded in the police firing. The radio said MPRF supporters burnt tyres and set up road blocks in different parts of the city despite a curfew. Local administration had imposed a curfew on city after violence erupted during curfew break on Saturday morning. The latest death brings the total number of people killed in more than two weeks of violence in southern Nepalese plains to at least 16. Renewed violence came as Nepalese government formed a three-member panel lead by a senior minister to hold talks with Madhesi People's Rights Forum (MPRF) that is spearheading the protests.
