Three people, including a government engineer, were killed and at least two others injured on Thursday when unknown gunmen ambushed their vehicle in Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal district, news reports said, according to DPA. The vehicle was transporting officials of the Communication and Works Department from the town of Mir Ali to the district capital Miranshah, the private Aaj news channel said. Local tribesmen also fired at the attackers but they managed to escape, sources told Aaj. The two critically injured men were taken to hospital in Mir Ali. Meanwhile, the channel reported that two adults died after children recovered a hand grenade and took it home in the Bara area in Pakistan's North-West Frontier Province. Four children were injured in the blast.
