Pakistan plans to enhance the exports of marble and granite to $ 500 million in the next five years, Industries Minister Jehangir Tareen says. While inaugurating an office of Pakistan Stone Development Company (PASDEC), the government is taking special steps for the promotion of stone industry and an amount of 2 billion Pakistani rupees (Rs) have been allocated for development of industrial parks for stone mining and marble and granite while another Rs.2 billion would be spent on the development of infrastructure development of the sector. The minister appreciated the US Agency for International Development or USAID for their assistance for the development of this sector.
