A record 11.5 million passengers traveled through Prague's Ruzyne International Airport in 2006, some 700,000 more than the previous year, The Associated Press quoted an official as saying today. Authorities attribute the increase mostly to the opening of a new terminal a year ago, which should help raise the number of passengers using the airport to more than 14 million by 2010, said Eva Krejci, spokeswoman for the state-run airport. The most favored destination for departing passengers last year was London, with more than 1 million passengers, followed by Paris and Frankfurt, Krejci said. Almost 20 percent of the passengers were flying with low cost carriers in 2006, up from 17 percent in 2005, she said.
