The Saudi Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi met here today with the Indian Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Murli Deora. During the meeting, they discussed the developments in the international oil market and underscored the importance of cooperation between the oil producing and consuming countries to stabilize the market. They also discussed ways of developing the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the fields of petroleum and mining. Issues pertaining to exchanging information and experience, encouraging joint investments and providing India with Saudi supply of oil were also discussed. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) after the meeting, Al-Naimi said "India is one of the most important Asian countries which has a distinguished relationship with the Kingdom. The relationship between the two countries has increased after the historic visit by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to India last year. He also clarified that the Indian side was informed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is ready to provide India with oil currently and in the future. The meeting was attended by the senior officials.
