Pakistan has dedicated the year 2007 as Green Pakistan, Environment Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat said. Seventy-three million saplings would be planted during the Spring Tree Plantation Campaign 2007 being launched from the first week of next month, he said while presiding over a meeting. Hayat said every citizen should plant at least two saplings to achieve this national objective of Green Pakistan. He said all out efforts would be made to enhance tree cover from existing 5% to 6% under the Millennium Development Goals for which necessary financial assistance would be provided to the Provincial Forest Departments as well as Azad Kashmir and Northern Areas.
