A U.S. Army Kiowa helicopter hit by ground fire was forced to make an emergency landing near the northern city of Samarra on Thursday, AP quoted a U.S. Central Command spokesman as saying. The OH-58 Kiowa landed safely at 1:35 p.m. local time at a U.S. base, Camp Brassfield-Mora, no one was injured. The Kiowa is a scout helicopter that normally carries a two-person crew.
