The planemaker Airbus has won air-safety certification for its giant A380 airliner, dpa quoted European regulators as saying Tuesday, although deliveries to airlines are to be approximately two years behind schedule. Prototypes of the double-decker aircraft, the world's biggest passenger plane, have undergone years of scrutiny and testing including a recent fully laden flight through Asia and around the globe. Asked for comment, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in Cologne, Germany said it had handed over the certification to Airbus in Toulouse, France. The certification says that the basic design is airworthy and that all European safety norms have been met.
