British Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett arrived in Lebanon Friday for a two-day visit despite tension in Beirut, DPA reported. Beckett was due to meet Prime Minister Fouad Seniora in his headquarters in downtown Beirut Saturday, and also house speaker Nabih Berri, head of the Shiite Amal movement, at his home in the capital, a British embassy source said. She was also to visit southern Lebanon and meet with the British demining team helping clear the region of thousands of Israeli cluster bombs left from the conflict with Hezbollah in summer.
