Authorities have registered half a million Afghan refugees living in Pakistan in their latest drive. Out of them, 270,000 Afghan have been registered in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP), officials of the UN refugee agency, UNHCR, and Afghan commissionerate told the reporters. UNHCR's assistant representative in Pakistan Indrika Rattawate, chief commissioner and NWFP commissioner Afghan Refugees Nayyar Agha and Sahibzada Mohammad Anees said that the registration process, which the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), the Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees (CAR) and UN refugee agency had launched on October 15, would continue till December 31 this year. According to them, several registration centers have been established apart from a number of mobile teams.
