Two U.S. Army soldiers were killed and one wounded in northern Iraq, the military said Wednesday. A soldier assigned to Regimental Combat Team 7 died Wednesday from wounds sustained during fighting in Anbar province, the large region of deserts and isolated cities and towns west of Baghdad, the military said. On Tuesday, a roadside bomb in the northern province of Salahuddin hit two Task Force Lightning soldiers assigned to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, killing one and wounding the other, the command said. The identities of the fatalities were withheld pending notification of relatives. The deaths raised to at least 2,883 the number of members of the U.S. military who have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
