MINISTER OF PETROLEUM AND MINERAL RESOURCES ENG. ALI AL-NAIMI MET HERE TODAY SAUDI AMBASSADORS ACCREDITED ABROAD. SPEAKING ON THE OCCASION, AL-NAIMI SAID THE KINGDOM'S RESERVES EXCEED 264 BILLION BARRELS, WHICH CONSTITUTE ABOUT THE QUARTER OF THE WORLD'S TOTAL RESERVES. AS REGARDS GAS RESERVES, HE SAID THEY AMOUNT TO 242 TRILLION CUBIC FEET. AL-NAIMI SAID THE KINGDOM PRODUCES NINE MILLION BARREL ON DAILY BASIS, ADDING THAT THE FIGURE CONSTITUTES ABOUT 13 PERCENT OF THE TOTAL WORLD PRODUCTION. HE NOTED THAT ARRANGEMENTS ARE UNDERWAY TO INCREASE THE DAILY PRODUCTION TO 12.5 MILLION BARRELS PER DAY BY 2009. AS REGARDS GAS, HE SAID THE KINGDOM PRODUCES MORE THAN SEVEN BILLION CUBIC FEET PER DAY. --MORE
