Finland's Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen on Tuesday expressed cautious optimism that he would broker a deal between Turkey and Cyprus ending years of bitter dispute over a ban on Cypriot ships and planes using Turkish ports. Vanhanen, whose country holds the rotating EU presidency, was last week forced to cancel a meeting after leaders from Turkey and Cyprus refused to attend. "We will have time enough to find a solution," said Vanhanen in an interview with Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa after talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin. Vanhanen said that Turkey, the Greek Republic of Cyprus which joined the EU in 2004 and non-recognised Turkish Cyprus had all agreed to resume negotiations.
