NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer holds talks Monday with senior Slovak officials, including Prime Minister Robert Fico and Foreign Minister Jan Kubis. The talks were to focus on preparations for the 26-nation organization's Nov. 28-29 summit in Riga, Latvia, NATO's military missions and the alliance's further expansion, the prime minister's office said in a statement. De Hoop Scheffer was also scheduled to meet President Ivan Gasparovic. Slovakia, a former communist country, joined NATO in 2004. It maintains troops in NATO-led missions in Kosovo and Afghanistan.
