Emergency workers rescued five crew members of a Russian cargo ship that sank in a storm in the Sea of Japan and found one sailor dead, officials said Tuesday. Twelve were reported still missing, AP reported. The Sinegorye, laden with timber destined for China, foundered Monday in strong winds off the coast of South Korea. Ships from Panama, South Korea and Israel pressed ahead with the search for the missing crew, Russia's Transport Ministry said. Russian NTV television showed footage of one the survivors, dressed in a bright red wetsuit, who managed to stay alive by clinging to a piece of wood in the cold water for more than 24 hours. The crew reported to Russian coast guards early Monday that the ship was listing badly. They sent an SOS signal about 30 minutes later, but then lost radio contact.
