Afghans, living in Pakistan, who, after registration by Pakistani authorities, would return to their country would be provided $500 per family so that they do not face any difficulty in starting their life, said State and Frontier Regions Minister Yar Muhammad Rind. Talking to the state broadcaster, Pakistan Television, he said that it was now time Afghans go back to their country and take part in the rehabilitation of their area. Rind said that almost 2.5 million Afghan refugees are registered in Pakistan, 400,000 refugees went back to their country last year and almost 1,032,000 returned to Afghanistan this year. The minister said that it has been decided that all the Afghan refugees must go back to their country in next three years and for this purpose different programmes are under consideration. He said the proof of registration cards would facilitate the Afghans and would work as a traveling document when they return to their country. These cards were also important as they could enjoy the package given to them by government of Pakistan and UNHCR, the minister added.
