Firstly: Following a notification from the Minister of Social affairs about the national strategy to deal with poverty and a briefing on amendments made by the permanent committee of the Supreme Economic Council, the Cabinet decided a strategy to deal with poverty through these programs: 1- Approval for innovation of the additional back-up program to fill the gap between the income of families, individuals, poor people and the have-nots, in conformity with the authentic official poverty index in the Kingdom. This back up program will have an annual amount of SR 264 million. 2- Approval of a subsidy amounting to an annual amount of SR 300 million for the National Welfare Fund. 3 - Approval of increasing appropriations which are given to orphans, the handicapped persons and similar needy people to the tune of an annual amount of SR 82 million. And this will include subsidies to their guardians, schools, bonus at the end of the guardianship, marriage, bonus for residents who are under the care of orphanages. --MORE
