THE SHOURA COUNCIL OF THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA HAS TAKEN PART IN THE 179TH CONFERENCE OF THE INTERNATIONAL PARLIAMENTARY UNION GOVERNING COUNCIL AND THE 115TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE ORGANIZATION WHICH TOOK PLACE IN THE UNION'S HEADQUARTERS IN GENEVA WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF 149 MEMBER COUNTRIES. DURING THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL, THE ACCESSION OF GAMBIA, PALAU AND BLACK MOUNTAIN KINGDOM AND THE ACCESSION OF THE ARAB PARLIAMENTARY UNION AS OBSERVER WERE APPROVED. THE MEETING ALSO CONDEMNED THE MILITARY COUP IN THAILAND AND SUSPENDED THE ASIAN COUNTRY'S MEMBERSHIP IN THE UNION. IN A STATEMENT, DR. MOHAMMED ALHOLWA, LEADER OF THE SHOURA COUNCIL'S DELEGATION TO THE MEETING, SAID THE DELEGATION IS PLANNING TO HIGHLIGHT THE ROLE OF THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA IN ARAB, ISLAMIC AND INTERNATIONAL ARENAS AND BRIEF THE WORLD PARLIAMENTARY COMMUNITY ON THE POLITICAL, ECONOMIC, CULTURAL AND SOCIAL REFORMS MADE IN THE KINGDOM.
