Grenades exploded in a downtown Beirut square early Sunday, injuring six people, a Lebanese official said, according to AP. Acting Interior Minister Ahmed Fatfat told the private Voice of Lebanon Radio that two grenades hit a building while a third fell on the ground and did not explode. Fatfat said six people received minor injuries and were treated and released from an area hospital. Among the injured were two people who were waiting on a sidewalk for the valet to pick up their car. The grenades were fired from rifles toward Riad Solh Square in central Beirut, police said. The explosion broke some windows in the building and damaged two cars, witnesses said. Police and army troops ringed the area and an investigation was under way.
