A NATO soldier was killed in an attack by militants who exploded a roadside bomb and shot small arms fire at a military patrol in southern Afghanistan on Saturday, the fifth anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan. The attack in the volatile Panjwayi district of Kandahar province happened near a NATO base, the alliance said. One of the patrolling vehicles was damaged. Attack helicopters and an explosives disposal team were dispatched to the area, the Associated Press reported.
