Pakistan on Friday announced the appointment of a new ambassador to India. Pakistan's current top envoy to Canada, Shahid Malik, will replace Aziz Ahmed Khan, a Foreign Ministry statement said. No reason was given for the change, the Associated Press reported. Malik, who holds a master's degree in economics, has previously served as a diplomat in India, Japan, the United States and Italy, the statement said. His appointment came days after India announced that its ambassador to Pakistan, Shivshankar Menon, would return to New Delhi to become the Indian Foreign Ministry's top bureaucrat. India has not yet announced a replacement.
