The Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD) in cooperation with WWF-Pakistan, the country's largest conservation NGO, and the Sindh Wildlife Department, has installed a satellite transmitter on a marine turtle at the Sandspit, Karachi coast, says an official statement. The step has been taken to strengthen the nation-wide partnerships and share technologies for the benefit of environmental conservation. EAD Secretary General Majid Al-Mansouri witnessed the release of turtle, which was the second cooperation of its kind with the first release in Pakistan being organized in 2001. A second transmitter is planned to be installed on another turtle later this week. The main objective is to monitor the movement patterns of the marine turtle, which is declared an as an endangered species by the World Conservation Union.
