Muslim diplomats began meeting on Monday with Pope Benedict XVI in the pontiff's latest effort to mend relations after his remarks about Islam and violence ignited the Vatican's most serious international crisis in decades, the Associated Press reported. The meeting, in the papal summer residence in the town of Castel Gandolfo, began with remarks by the pope's chief aide on inter-religious relations, French Cardinal Paul Poupard.
