US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia James Oberwetter congratulated the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and the Saudi people on the occasion of the Kingdom's National Day. This came in a speech by Oberwetter who said that King Abdulaziz established this country seventy years ago and it has now a good status among the world nations. He pointed to the strong relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and US, saying that they have been deep-rooted and based on mutual respect and common interest. Moreover, he highlighted King Abdullah's efforts to develop education, noting the governmental scholarships program offered by the Saudi government to Saudi students to go on with their education in the US universities. He added that it is a pleasure to see a large number of Saudi students go to study in the US and those students have been doing that for more than two generations. This matter has bolstered the relations between the Kingdom and US and strengthened mutual understanding and knowledge. The U.S. ambassador said that the two countries have been developing bilateral relations since King Abdulaziz shook hands with US President Roosevelt sixty years ago.
