THE FIRST OF SIX WEEKLY RELIEF CONVOYS CONSISTING OF 44 TRUCKS LADEN WITH 40,000 FOOD BASKETS REACHED LEBANON TODAY, THE LARGEST SENT IN THE HELP OF NEEDY LEBANESE WHO INFLICTED LOSSES AND DAMAGES DUE TO RECENT ISRAELI AIR RAIDS,
ON THE SIDELINES OF THE DELIVERY CEREMONY WHICH TOOK PLACE IN BEIRUT, A COOPERATION AGREEMENT WAS CONCLUDED BETWEEN THE SAUDI POPULAR CAMPAIGN TO RELIEF THE LEBANESE PEOPLE AND THE UNICEF ACCORDING TO WHICH MEDICAL, EDUCATIONAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS AND PROGRAMS WORTH $2,225,000 WILL BE DISTRIBUTED BY THE UNICEF OVER SCHOOL STUDENTS AND NEEDY CHILDREN IN THE WAR-SHUTTERED COUNTRY.
THIS AGREEMENT WAS SIGHED BY DR. SAED AL-ORABI AL-HARTHI, ADVISOR TO THE SAUDI INTERIOR MINISTER AND HEAD OF THE CAMPAIGN AND ROBERTO LORENTEEL, REPRESENTATIVE OF THE UNITED NATIONS CHILDREN'S FUND /UNICEF/ TO LEBANON. THE SIGNING CEREMONY WAS ATTENDED THE SAUDI AMBASSADOR TO LEBANON DR. ABDULAZIZ KHOJAH .
THE SHIPMENTS COME IN LINE WITH DIRECTIVES BY THE CUSTODIAN OF THE TWO HOLY MOSQUES KING ABDULLAH BIN ABDULAZIZ AND CROWN PRINCE SULTAN BIN ABDULAZIZ, DEPUTY PREMIER, MINISTER OF DEFENSE AND AVIATION AND INSPECTOR GENERAL AS WELL AS THE FOLLOW UP OF PRINCE NAIF BIN ABDULAZIZ, THE MINISTER OF INTERIOR AND GENERAL SUPERVISOR OF THE POPULAR CAMPAIGN FOR RELIEF OF THE LEBANESE PEOPLE.
