THE INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC NEWS AGENCY (IINA) WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1972 IN LINE WITH A RESOLUTION ADOPTED BY THE THIRD CONFERENCE OF FOREIGN MINISTERS OF THE ORGANIZATION OF ISLAMIC CONFERENCE (OIC), WHICH WAS HELD IN JEDDAH. THE SAUDI GOVERNMENT APPROVED AT THAT TIME TO ALLOCATE ONE OF THE BUILDINGS TO BE THE VENUE OF IINA. THE AGENCY IS CONCERNED WITH ENHANCING AND PRESERVING THE ISLAMIC CULTURAL HERITAGE AS WELL AS DEEPENING RELATIONS AMONG THE MUSLIM COUNTRIES. IINA IS ALSO CONCERNED WITH ENHANCING RELATIONS AMONG THE ISLAMIC NEWS AGENCIES. THE AGENCY IS MANAGED BY AN EXECUTIVE COUNCIL WHICH IS CHAIRED BY THE SAUDI MINISTER OF CULTURE AND INFORMATION. THE BUDGET OF IINA IS PAID BY THE MEMBER STATES OF THE ORGANIZATION OF THE ISLAMIC CONFERENCE. THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA, THE UNTIED ARAB EMIRATES (UAE), QATAR, PAKISTAN, KUWAIT, INDONESIA, EGYPT, LIBYA, MOROCCO AND TUNISIA ARE THE MAJOR COUNTRIES WHICH ARE COMMITTED TO EXTEND SUPPORT TO IINA. --MORE
