SAUDI AMBASSADOR TO SRI LANKA MOHAMMED BIN MAHMOUD AL-ALI HANDED OVER 100 TONS OF DATES TO SRI LANKAN AUTHORITIES AS A GIFT FROM THE GOVERNMENT OF THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA TO THE GOVERNMENT OF SRI LANKA TO BE DISTRIBUTED OVER THE NEEDY IN SRI LANKA DURING THE HOLY MONTH OF RAMADAN. THE DELIVERY CEREMONY WAS ATTENDED BY MOHAMMED ABULHAMEED FAWZI, MINISTER OF PETROLEUM, TRANSPORT AND RAILWAYS WHO IS ALSO IN CHARGE OF ISLAMIC AFFAIRS, AND A NUMBER OF OFFICIALS. THE SRI LANKAN GOVERNMENT HAS EXPRESSED THANKS TO AND APPRECIATION OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA FOR THIS GESTURE WHICH COMES AS A CONTINUATION TO THE HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE EXTENDED BY THE KINGDOM TO SRI LANKAN PEOPLE.
