Progress is swift at the Khurais Crude Increment Program, the largest crude increment undertaken in the history of Saudi Aramco and one of the largest industrial projects being executed in the world today. Abdullah S. Al-Saif, senior vice president of Exploration and Producing, has recently visited the site to see the amount of work that has been done on site preparation and temporary facilities. "This project is vital to sustaining our role as one of the world's leading energy providers," Al-Saif said during the tour, according to a report carried by Saudi Aramco web-site. After hearing several presentations outlining the progress, Al-Seif said "It's impressive to see how far things have come in such a short time." "It's important to maintain a high level of quality during these early stages of construction. A solid foundation leads to a solid project, " he added. Meanwhile, design work is being done all around the world, from Milan and Fano in Italy to Reading in the U.K. and Calgary, Canada. Slated for completion in 2009, the Khurais facilities will produce 1.2 million barrels per day (bpd) of stabilized Arabian Light crude, 315 million standard cubic feet per day of sour gas for Shedgum Gas Plant and 70,000 bpd of natural gas liquids for Yanbu' Gas Plant.
