A U.N. naval force assumed control of Lebanon's coast on Friday, lifting an eight-week Israeli blockade, a Lebanese government source said. "We have been informed by UNIFIL (peacekeepers) that they took control of the coast from 12:30 p.m. (0930 GMT) and that the siege was lifted," the source said. "French, Greek and Italian ships will monitor our waters till the Germans arrive," the source was quoted as saying by Reuters.
