Sudan's president Omar Hassan Al-Bashir met with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Jendayi Frazer, in Khartoum on Tuesday after she failed to secure a meeting with him a day earlier, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton said. Frazer traveled to Khartoum over the weekend to deliver a strong message to Al-Bashir that he must accept U.N. peacekeeping troops in the troubled Darfur region. Frazer extended her stay on Monday after she was unable to meet with Bashir. My understanding is Bashir was too busy yesterday, but he did meet with her this morning, Bolton told reporters at U.N. headquarters in New York City. He said he had no details of the meeting.
